Oper-Traimer participates in the construction of the recently inaugurated AVE high-speed train to Mecca

Oper-Traimer, a company belonging to the Alonso Group with more than 30 years of experience in international freight transport, has participated in a thousand services for the work carried out in Saudi Arabia. Oper-Traimer will continue to work in the area, consolidating itself as a company specialized in the transport of special cargoes for major works and international projects.

Last December 31st, the AVE high-speed train linking La Meca and Medina successfully made its first 450-kilometre inaugural route through the desert. Over the course of four years Oper-Traimer, a freight forwarder company of the Alonso Group specialized in large projects, has assisted the multinational engineering company Cobra (ACS) through its subsidiary Railways Infrastructures, Installations and Services.

The megaproject of this new high-speed line has been executed by a Spanish consortium of 12 public and private companies, becoming the most important public works contract developed by Spanish companies abroad.

Oper-Traimer, a key partner for logistics

Within this ambitious project Oper-Traimer has been the company in charge of collaborating in the logistic deployment to allow the installation of key systems such as electrification, catenary and signaling of the line. For this purpose, the freight forwarder has managed tasks as diverse as the coordination of suppliers and cargo reception; storage, stowage and transport in 20′, 40′ containers, Open Top, Flat Racks, Mafi; air services, up to on-site deliveries.

With these works provided during the construction phase, the freight forwarding company has managed a thousand services, coordinating up to 40 suppliers. In addition, during this period, a multitude of special loads have been carried out, ranging from 14-metre long catenary sections to electrical equipment more than three metres wide.

A long-term project

Up to the moment of its inauguration, Oper-Traimer has managed the shipment of more than 800 TEUS from Spain to Saudi Arabia, contributing to the project’s success.

Despite the conclusion of the work, Oper-Traimer plans to continue working together with the powerful multinational, providing the logistical services required in all the maintenance of the facilities for the next 25 years.
