Ron Legendario celebrates his Cuban Day, a journey through the Caribbean country through the five senses.

The attendees participated in a showcooking in which classic dishes of Cuban cuisine have been reinterpreted with rum as the main ingredient. The Café de Oriente in Madrid has been transformed for one day into a corner of Havana through an integral experience playing with the five senses.

Is it possible to combine tradition and sophistication through cooking? Ron Legendario has proposed this challenge with the celebration of his Cuban Day, using as star ingredients the different varieties of rum that are produced in a traditional way in the Caribbean country. The expert hands of chef Roberto Hierro have been able to adapt some of the most recognizable dishes of their gastronomy, to turn them into authentic signature cuisine.

After the success of its previous call last year in Seville, Ron Legendario has chosen Madrid as the host city to host the second edition of the Legendario Cuban Day. The spirit firm, internationally recognized for its iconic bottle bearing the Cuban flag, has organized a day of homage to the country in which they intend to spread the values that have placed it as one of the most appreciated rum brands: its taste for life and the preservation of its 100% Cuban origin.

The star activity of this event has been an innovative showcooking in which some twenty participants from the world of communication, gastronomy and social networks, guided by the prestigious chef Hierro, have created different creations with their own hands. The result has been surprising dishes, specialties of Cuban gastronomy, reinterpreted using Ron Legendario as star ingredient.

An exquisite menu where dishes such as black beans, roast pork or enchilados shrimp have been tasted, under an update that brings these creations to the highest cuisine when combined with the characteristic flavor of our rum.

  • Sleeping black beans with white rice, banana biscuit and Ron Legendario Dorado.
  • Tuber chips and tamarind mayonnaise.
  • Roasted suckling pig with mojo cassava, dried apple and mango jelly and Ron Añejo Legendario.
  • Shrimp enchilados with avocado, lettuce and papaya.
  • Guaya paste with flambéed cheese and Ron Carta Blanca Superior Legendario.

Both the showcooking and the subsequent tasting of the dishes have taken place at the historic Café de Oriente in Madrid. Its art deco style rooms have been decorated in colonial style with original objects brought expressly from the island for the occasion. The whole evening was livened up with a group of Cuban music that reviewed live the classics that have made Caribbean rhythms universal.

The evening ended with an original Cuban party, in which all the guests prepared the authentic flambé coffee with Legendario Elixir de Cuba and in which an expert cocktail shaker introduced them to the art of combining the wide range of Ron Legendario to obtain the most original cocktails. Because there’s a whole universe of flavors beyond the infallible mojito!
