Setemar optimises loading and unloading operations by acquiring new specialised machinery

Setemar’s facilities in Quart de Poblet (Valencia) already have a new loading platform specially designed for large containers. This equipment simplifies the operation of filling 45′ containers with long, heavy or bulky materials.

Setemar, Alonso Group‘s logistics platform, specialises, among other activities, in the handling of special industrial loads. In its facilities, daily cargo operations are carried out for different types of goods such as metal profiles for the construction of photovoltaic plants, wooden beams and boards, or steel materials such as extruded aluminium bars.

All these elements have in common a great length, sometimes exceeding five metres, which makes them particularly difficult to handle using conventional machinery. To solve this problem, Setemar has acquired a new automated loading and unloading platform for sea containers.

The equipment, which has been made to measure by Asnalog, consists of an external platform that allows the loading of the goods from both sides to be subsequently inserted into the container automatically by an electro-pneumatic fork system.

This type of pallets facilitates and simplifies loading and unloading operations in standard containers of long, heavy or bulky materials.

Reduction of accidents

Another of the great advantages of this system when it comes to making special loads is the reduction to a minimum of accidents in all its aspects. On the one hand, by simplifying the number of manoeuvres to be carried out, any type of damage to the goods during the loading and unloading process is avoided.

In addition, the system achieves a weight distribution that is distributed evenly throughout the structure without any point of overload support. In this way, when the load is introduced in a homogeneous way and at constant speed, there are no shocks or sudden movements that could damage the container, with the consequent savings in repairs and maintenance of the containers.

And finally, as it is an automated platform and extremely user-friendly, it minimizes the possible risk of accidents or injuries related to loading and unloading operations.
