A technical training for the younger generations called to lead the logistics of the future. The 9th edition of the Master’s Degree in Maritime Law and Economic-Strategic Management of Maritime-Port Companies<\/strong> at the Catholic University of Valencia (UCV<\/a>) has already begun and, for yet another year, this specialised training is supported by Alonso Group<\/a>. Nearly thirty postgraduate students graduate each year from this prestigious master<\/strong>‘s degree that explores the logistics sector, transport and the management of supply chains in depth.<\/p>\n

On the presentation day, Jorge Alonso<\/strong>, Alonso Group’s president and CEO, analysed the current situation of the maritime industry<\/strong> and Spain’s geostrategic position on an international level. He did not forget to mention “the tensions that the logistics sector<\/strong> has suffered in recent times due to the price of freight, congested ports on the main routes or the lack of containers”. In this context, he recalled that “we are living in a time of great changes<\/strong> that are taking place at great speed and we must make more use of the sea, something that will translate into employment and competitiveness.<\/strong> The world is rediscovering the importance of geostrategy<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

Alonso also encouraged all students to go for high qualifications. “We need trained professionals<\/strong>. The sector demands innovation and continuous updating. We must be prepared in order to be competitive<\/strong> and also sustainable<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

By backing this new edition, the holding company is once again setting an example of its firm commitment to more technical and specialised training<\/strong> for the younger generations, who are called to lead the logistics of tomorrow. A future that, as Alonso also recalled during his speech, “must be committed to sustainability<\/strong> and the circular economy.<\/strong> It is essential”.<\/p>\n

The Master’s Degree in Maritime Law and Economic-Strategic Management of Maritime-Port Companies<\/a> is highly prestigious in the sector due to its high level of training and its ability to combine theory with practical aspects, which are essential for the development of any professional. The 2022-2023 programme<\/strong> includes visits to ports, airports, terminals – such as Intersagunto Terminals<\/a> -, intermodal logistics platforms – the Setemar<\/a> facilities – and even marinas such as Pobla Marina<\/a>, located in La Pobla de Farnals (Valencia).<\/p>\n

In addition, a fundamental part of the teaching staff are executives from some of the companies in the logistics division<\/a>,<\/strong> so the Alonso Group’s involvement in the development of the training programme<\/strong> is double.<\/p>\n

VI Alonso Scholarship, a prize for excellence<\/h5>\n

The Alonso Scholarship<\/strong>, in its 6th edition, will once again distinguish the most outstanding student at the end of the course with an employment contract in one of the Alonso Group<\/a> companies. A unique opportunity to learn first-hand how one of the main logistics groups on the Iberian Peninsula operates, which achieved an aggregate turnover of 1,649 million euros<\/strong> in its last year. The corporation, present on five continents, currently employs 2.521 professionals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
