Land operations at the Intersagunto Terminals facilities<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Intersagunto Terminals (IST)<\/a>, Alonso Group’<\/strong>s multi-purpose terminal located in the port of Sagunto, managed to reduce the accident rate to zero accidents with sick leave last year. Even taking into account the nature of the activity, with the handling of all types of goods through large machinery, the IST facilities have achieved this positive result.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Until now, this labour milestone had not been achieved, a goal set by the terminal at the beginning of 2022. It has been achieved thanks to the development of the ISO 45001 management system<\/strong> -safety and health at work- implemented by Intersagunto Terminals<\/strong> in recent years as well as the continuous training processes in which workers participate. A commitment to good practices in terms of occupational risk reduction and prevention culture<\/strong> that has been rewarded.<\/p>\n

Significant increase in activity<\/h5>\n

Another very positive aspect for Intersagunto Terminals (IST)<\/a> is that it has managed to increase the tonnes handled last year by up to 4%. An outstanding result despite the economic situation and the geopolitical tensions<\/strong> that occurred during 2022. An example of the versatility, efficiency and resilience of one of the most versatile and modern terminals in the whole of the Spanish Mediterranean arc.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Intersagunto Terminals<\/a> currently has direct connections with the main ports of the country and a total area of 116,677 square metres<\/strong>, with a manoeuvring area of 19,100 square metres. It has 180 reefer connections<\/strong> and a berthing line of 643 metres. Its handling capacity reaches 190,000 TEUs per year.<\/p>\n

In addition, since last November, the facilities have had another regular service, with a fortnightly frequency, linking Sagunto<\/strong> with the port of New York<\/strong> operated by the Italian shipping company Kalypso. The line also offers connections between Chittagong, the largest port in Bangladesh, and Sagunto with a call at Salerno (Italy).<\/p>\n

Intersagunto Terminales, a benchmark in quality management systems<\/h5>\n

Alonso Group<\/a> terminal located in the port of Sagunto<\/strong> is a benchmark in terms of the implementation and start-up of quality management systems. In addition to the aforementioned ISO 45001<\/strong> on occupational health and safety, IST has ISO 9001<\/strong> on quality management systems and ISO 14001<\/strong> on environmental management. Furthermore, IST is certified as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO)<\/strong> in its complete modality, the agreement of good environmental practices with the Port Authority of Valencia<\/a>, and the service quality referential of the State Ports organisation.<\/p>\n

A firm commitment to the sustainability of freight transport<\/h5>\n

In addition, IST <\/a>has recently been certified by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge<\/a> of the 8% reduction in the average intensity of greenhouse gas emissions in the three-year period 2019-2021 compared to the three-year period 2018-2020. This achievement is evidence of the port terminal’s commitment to the sustainability of freight transport<\/strong>, having boosted the use of electric terminal equipment with more efficient technologies.<\/p>\n
