The terminal that Alonso Group<\/a> operates in the Barcelona port hinterland, Can Tunis, has implemented a new Terminal Operating System (TOS).<\/strong> With this rollout, the facilities take a new step forward in terms of efficiency, traceability, <\/strong>and agility.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Smart management and more agile operations<\/h5>\n

The new custom software<\/strong> incorporates key improvements that optimize terminal operations. Firstly, it allows for gate management<\/a> with direct integration with yard operations and real-time stock control, while also facilitating the agile incorporation of customer information<\/strong>. In addition, it offers yard mobility, advanced resource planning, and automated controls over operations, as well as enhanced management of train operation records.<\/p>\n

It also optimizes incident management,<\/strong> real-time inbound and outbound verification, and automatic goods location. Thanks to the planning module<\/strong>, the system aims to reduce efficiency issues in loading and unloading operations; additionally, traceability is comprehensive, as it allows tracking the lifecycle of each ITU (Intermodal Transport Unit)<\/strong> from entry to exit. Moreover, it records all operations performed, who executed them, and when, and includes automated control of the costs for each operation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This system, developed by Asix<\/a>, a company specialized in logistics sector software,<\/strong> represents a significant step toward a more automated, efficient, and secure terminal management. For this development and implementation, Can Tunis, operated by the company Setemar<\/a>, received funding from the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR) of the General State Administration (AGE) of the Spanish Government. The aim of the plan is to support sustainable and digital transport<\/strong> within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union \u2013 NextGenerationEU.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Intermodal and at the forefront<\/h5>\n

The Can Tunis intermodal terminal<\/strong> enables the transshipment of goods arriving in Barcelona from the rest of Europe from standard gauge (UIC)<\/strong> to Iberian gauge and vice versa, ensuring efficient transport to the rest of the Iberian Peninsula<\/strong>. Its proximity to the city facilitates last-mile distribution, and being located in the hinterland of the Port of Barcelona reduces hauling distances and transit times.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With this new technological boost, Can Tunis is established as a benchmark in innovation, logistics efficiency, and sustainability.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Can Tunis terminal is part of the Global Logistics Plan<\/a> project promoted by Grupo Alonso, which aims to encourage freight transport by rail. It represents a true commitment to intermodality, connecting its own logistics platforms with the main freight hubs on the Iberian Peninsula through multi-client, multi-product trains.<\/strong><\/p>\n
