Alonso Group’s road transport company has reduced its polluting emissions into the atmosphere by 6.4% in the last six years, that is, 1.836 fewer tonnes of CO2 emitted since 2014. This effort to combat climate change has been recognised with the recent award of the Calculo y Reduzco Stamp by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. Sustainability is part of the roadmap for all Transportes Alonso’s activities and, in fact, 20% of its fleet is powered by more environmentally friendly energies.<\/strong><\/div>\n

Transportes Alonso<\/a>, with operational bases in Valencia, Murcia, Barcelona, Madrid and Algeciras, has managed to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 6.4%<\/strong> in the last six years in all its land transport activities<\/strong>. This means a total of 1.836 tonnes of CO2 less emitted into the atmosphere from 2014 to the present.<\/p>\n

A policy in favour of sustainability, the environment and the fight climate change<\/strong> that has been recognised with the recent award to Transportes Alonso of the Calculo y Reduzco Stamp by the Ministry of Ecological Transition<\/a> through the Spanish Climate Change Office. This recognition distinguishes the company, which is part of the Alonso Group<\/a>, for its programmes and commitments undertaken to calculate and reduce these emissions.<\/p>\n

This certification<\/strong> has been renewed annually since 2014 and the downward trend in pollutant emissions has been noted. At the same time, and since 2011, Transportes Alonso has also been obtaining the Calculo Stamp<\/strong> uninterruptedly for its calculations of the impact of the carbon footprint in its transport activities.<\/p>\n

Sustainable dynamics in the Alonso Group’s Transport Division<\/h5>\n

A dynamic that is also occurring in the Alonso Group’s Road Transport Division<\/strong> as a whole, which has reduced its polluting emissions by up to 6% in the last six years (909 tonnes less per year). An effort that has led to a total saving of 5.456 fewer tonnes<\/strong> of CO2 emitted from 2014 to 2019.<\/p>\n

It is not the first Alonso Group<\/strong> company to achieve this certification as Intersagunto Terminales<\/a>, the multipurpose terminal located in the port of Sagunto, also received this distinction in 2018 for its efforts to reduce its polluting emissions<\/strong> (until to 11%) which made it one of the first maritime terminals to achieve it.<\/p>\n

Sustainability, a real commitment<\/h5>\n

Aware that the present and the future are based on a commitment to clean energies<\/strong>, Transportes Alonso has been leading a policy in favour of the environment<\/a> for years, which has led it to modernise its fleet with vehicles powered by less polluting energies, which now accounts for 20% of its total fleet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the company continues to market a greater number of green kilometres in services related to last mile or capillary distribution<\/strong> for all its customers and is committed to the construction of sustainable and environmentally friendly corporate buildings<\/a> such as, for example, its headquarters in the port of Valencia. A qualitative and quantitative advance<\/strong> towards a more environmentally responsible land transport.<\/p>\n

Alonso Group’s Global Logistics Plan<\/h5>\n

All these actions in support of the environment and sustainability are closely linked to the ambitious Global Logistics Plan<\/a> that Alonso Group is currently developing. A commitment to greater efficiency in the energy cost of transport and the progressive reduction of polluting emissions at a global level in order to the decarbonisation of the planet. A philosophy that is committed to intermodality<\/strong> as a fundamental tool to connect the main freight transport hubs with each other by rail. This project is co-financed by the European Union through the “Connecting Europe”<\/strong> program.<\/p>\n
