Alonso Group donates a refrigerated container for the Red Cross food programme

The donation of the container is used for the storage of basic needs products within the food programme of the Red Cross in the province of Cadiz. The container was donated at the beginning of the pandemic, and four years later, the donation has become a definitive donation. This is a new social initiative of Alonso holding company.

Alonso holding company, dedicated to logistics, energy and infrastructures and the leisure-services sector, has donated a refrigerated container to the Red Cross in the province of Cadiz. The initiative allows the social organisation to store all kinds of perishable foodstuffs and basic needs products in the event of food donations or in emergency situations for distribution to the most vulnerable and socially excluded families.

At the beginning of the pandemic, Alonso Group donated the 20-foot refrigerated container to the charity, and now, after detecting a constant need on the part of the most vulnerable families in the province of Cadiz, it has decided to turn this gesture into a definitive donation. “This container has been located inside the Puerto Real Logistics Centre since the beginning of COVID-19. At that critical moment, we decided to donate it to reinforce the aid offered by the Red Cross to all people in vulnerable situations. We are proud to know that it has been useful in the distribution of perishable foodstuffs“, the corporation points out.

Undoubtedly a great help for the Red Cross, which in addition to its support to vulnerable people, has different objectives that vary according to the needs of each community. Always under the general principles of humanity, impartiality, universality or unity.

Positive impact on society

Alonso Group‘s social initiatives search to have a positive impact on society, especially in the communities where it is established. In this case, the holding company has a logistics platform in the region, SAM Algeciras, located just a kilometre and a half from the port of Algeciras.
