Alonso Forwarding Panama, a strategic location.

Under the brand name of Alonso Forwarding Panama, the international freight forwarding division of Alonso Group, Alonso Forwarding, adds a new branch in Panama, a key country for international trade. Its inter-oceanic canal is a geostrategic infrastructure and one of the busy sea crossings in the world for merchant and passenger ships.

With an office in the country’s capital, Alonso Forwarding Panama markets maritime, air and land services, as well as having extensive experience in project cargo. It also has a division specialising in the transport of bulk liquids in flexitanks and one dedicated to logistics for the development of renewable energy projects. The countries with which the branch maintains the most commercial relations are China, the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Spain and Peru.

Alonso Forwarding Panama has a team with extensive knowledge of how supply chains work and is managed by Julián Cuéllar, a professional with extensive experience in the sector. “Our goal is to become a benchmark in the region and, in the near future, to position ourselves in the top 15 of the best freight forwarders in the country. We have extensive experience in all types of transport, which is undoubtedly the best guarantee for our growth and positioning in the market. Alonso Forwarding Panama is an exciting project”, highlights Cuéllar.

The presentation of the new branch, held in Panama City, brought together the entire team, customers and partners, as well as the presence of Alonso Forwarding CEO, Pedro López. A staging for a great project that strengthens the presence of Alonso Group’s international freight forwarding division in the region, which also has a branch in Costa Rica, Alonso Forwarding Costa Rica, with offices in the capital, San José.

In his speech López said “Alonso Forwarding Panama is the latest example of the great strength of Alonso Group’s freight forwarding division. In recent years we have made a great effort to continue expanding, a process that continues today. We continue to work on adding new incorporations”.

Alonso Forwarding, a brand in constant expansion

Alonso Forwarding Panama has started its activity with the backing of the Alonso Group’s solid international structure, with a presence in the world’s main production, distribution and consumption centres. Professional, complete and personalised coverage on five continents, which this launch reinforces even further. This expansion also takes place in a context where having efficient, agile and competitive logistics is crucial due to the constant fluctuations to which supply chains are currently subject.

Panama Canal, key to the country’s economy

Since its inauguration in 1914, the Panama Canal, a port infrastructure connecting the Pacific Ocean with the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, has been very important for world navigation as it prevents ships from having to cross the Strait of Magellan (Chile). Therefore, it is of great strategic and economic importance for the country and the Central American region as a whole. Container transhipment ports, free trade zones, railways and one of the largest air hubs in Latin America are clustered around the Panama Canal. According to official data, last year a total of 13,342 ships passed through its waters.
