Alonso Holding reaffirms its commitment to specialised training and the new generation of professionals
The Alonso holding company renews its support for the Master’s Degree in Maritime Law and Economic-Strategic Management offered by the Catholic University of Valencia (UCV). This Friday’s inaugural session marked the start of the specialised training course, the aim of which is to study the maritime-port business from an interdisciplinary perspective (business, strategic, legal…), enabling future professionals in the sector to meet the new challenges that arise.
Once again, executives from some of the companies in the Alonso Group‘s logistics division form part of the teaching staff of the postgraduate course. The programme includes visits to ports, airports, terminals – as is the case of Intersagunto Terminales -, intermodal logistics platforms – the Setemar facilities – and even marinas such as Pobla Marina. Great practical lessons to learn first-hand about the daily operation of logistics facilities, to offer students a comprehensive view of the functioning of the supply chain and to work on the optimisation of key processes for operational efficiency in the maritime sector.
A promising, crucial and influential industry
During his speech, Alonso Group’s presidente and CEO, Jorge Alonso, recalled that the sector needs trained professionals “with high qualifications, constantly updated and with a great capacity for resilience”. At the same time, he highlighted how the supply chain is a “decisive industry in the transformation towards a circular economy and committed to the sustainability of the planet. An essential issue for future generations“.
Alonso also recalled that Spain has “a geostrategic position on an international level and is at the hub of the world’s major maritime routes”. “Sustainability and competitiveness must always be our ultimate goals. The philosophy of our corporation is to promote clean air, blue sea and fertile land”, emphasised the president and CEO.
VII Alonso Scholarship
During the opening ceremony, the VII Alonso Scholarship was also awarded to the young student Alexandra Adam Martorell. A prize awarded by the holding company to the most outstanding student of the course, who will soon join one of the Alonso Group companies to continue her training through an employment contract. An opportunity that will allow her to apply the knowledge acquired during the master’s degree in a real professional environment, in addition to strengthening her skills and competences in the maritime-port sector. After the end of the 2024-2025 academic year, the VIII Alonso Scholarship will be awarded.
