Dominican Republic, a stable and growing economy

The Dominican economy is one of the most stable in the region and has experienced great development in recent years, according to the latest reports presented by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). Since 2018, growth has been 6.63%, except in 2020 – the year of the pandemic – where the economy contracted by 3.4%.

Likewise, the logistics market has experienced strong growth in the country based on the development of logistics centres, the consolidation of the Caucedo terminal, which functions as a true transhipment hub in the Caribbean, and the expansion of the Haina River terminal (HIT). In addition, there has been an increase in export cargo volumes from the free trade zones, largely due to the change in the post-pandemic business strategy of large corporations, focusing more and more on near-shoring.

The Dominican Republic has social and political stability, as well as a strong legal framework, which assures any national or foreign company that its investment is guaranteed over time.
