For another year, Alonso Group continues to encourage the development of young talent through its sponsorship of the Master’s Degree in Maritime Law and Economic-Strategic Management of the Maritime-Port Company of the Catholic University of Valencia (UCV). This postgraduate course, which is now in its fifth edition, has consolidated itself as an effective training tool to meet the challenges of a sector in constant evolution that demands increasingly specialized professional profiles.

The master’s degree is aimed at both recent graduates interested in making their way in the field of logistics, as well as active professionals seeking to advance and update in their careers. Twenty registered students from different parts of the country will receive first level theoretical training accompanied by practical cases, master classes and complementary activities.

During the opening session, which took place at the headquarters of the UCV, Jorge Alonso highlighted the importance for any logistics company to have “professionals who are able to adapt courageously to the changes demanded by a sector, such as maritime-port, which is based more than 90% of world trade”.

Alonso Group supports training from inside the company

Alonso Group’s involvement with this training project comprises several different aspects. In the first place, contributing the knowledge of its executives, who will form part of the teaching staff by giving theoretical and practical classes throughout the Master. In this way, students will be able to obtain an updated and first-hand vision of the day-to-day running of a maritime-port logistics company.

Secondly, the master’s programme includes different practical activities and training visits to some of the facilities and logistics platforms that Alonso Group manages throughout the Iberian Peninsula. In this way, students will have the opportunity to visit, among others, the Intersagunto maritime terminal in the Port of Sagunto, the Setemar logistics platform in Quart de Poblet, or the Pobla Marina marina in La Pobla de Farnals.

Alonso Grant, a door to professional development

For the second consecutive year, the collaboration agreement between Alonso Group and the UCV also includes the Alonso Grant, an initiative that aims to encourage academic excellence through employment. Thus, the Alonso Group will offer an employment contract to students who, in the opinion of the staff, have stood out significantly both for their level of achievement and for their skills, competences and potential for professional development.

The aim of this initiative is for young talents to be able to complement their academic training by gradually integrating themselves into the labour market with one of the leading companies in the national and international logistics sector.
