Oper Reefer Forwarding reinforces its national presence with a new delegation in Barcelona

The opening takes place only five months after the start of the commercial activity of the new company specialized in cold logistics of Alonso Group. In this way, Oper Reefer Forwarding consolidates its presence in the national market, with the objective also in the international field.

Oper Reefer Forwarding, one of Alonso Group‘s specialised cold storage forwarding companies, is taking another step forward in its presence in Spain and will have a new office in Barcelona. This announcement comes just five months after the company began its commercial activity as a specialist in cold logistics by land, sea and air, both for export and import.

Oper Reefer Forwarding Barcelona will have a commercial team headed by Sami Mchiri, a professional with a great experience in the logistics and shipping sector. This reinforcement will enable even greater connection with the main fruit and fresh produce markets on a global scale.

Currently, Barcelona is the first port for fresh products in the Mediterranean and ended 2019 with a traffic of 92,652 refrigerated containers and a movement of 1,094,235 tons. The port of Barcelona has become a reference for temperature-controlled traffic at a European level.

Algeciras, Head Office of Oper Reefer Forwarding

The head office of Oper Reefer Forwarding is located in Algeciras where Alonso Group has a multimodal logistics platform of more than 120,000 square meters, SAM Algeciras. The facilities are characterised, among other services, by the fact that they have refrigerated warehouses that are a reference point in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, with 11 bi-temperature chambers, a capacity for more than 7,800 pallets and are equipped with the latest technology.

SAM Algeciras is located just over one kilometre from the Andalusian port, the most important in Spain in terms of container traffic.

Alonso Group’s cold logistics division, a reference in the sector

Oper Reefer Forwarding was created to complement the cold logistics division that Alonso Group has been developing for a decade through different companies that are strongly consolidated in the national market.

At present, Alonso Group is a multi-sector holding company of reference in the national and international markets. With more than 55 years of experience, it is made up of more than a hundred companies dedicated to logistics, energy and infrastructures and the leisure sector.
