Pobla Marina receives the Good Environmental Management Flag
After almost two decades working to improve the quality of its facilities, Pobla Marina has become the authentic nerve center of Pobla de Farnals Beach. The marina, which has 620 mooring points and 34 commercial premises, opens to the municipality, forming a barrier-free space that serves as a dynamiser of the economy, social life and local sport.
The involvement in the organized collection of solid waste or the right treatment of the waste water are some of the key points that have allowed the marina of the Alonso Group receive the flag that the ‘Agrupación de Puertos Deportivos y Turísticos de la Comunidad Valenciana’ grants to those facilities that stand out for their good environmental management.
A step towards the blue flag
The management of a marina of these characteristics implies a great effort to achieve the perfect balance between users and protection of the environment in which it is located. For this, the wonderful harmony between Pobla Marina and Pobla de Farnals authorities is essential.
In this sense the consistory has encouraged them to obtain the blue flag that accredits the excellence of its facilities. As pointed out by Pablo González Carrau, Pobla Marina Manager, “the beaches of La Pobla de Farnals have blue flag and it was the city council itself that encouraged us to request it. For this we have already made a series of improvements that join the work done during all these years. ”
A living space
Also in the social sphere Pobla Marina has managed to become a reference in the promotion of grassroots sport and nautical activities. The marina has three sports clubs: Regattas Club, Kayak Club and Fishing Club. They collaborate and organize a multitude of activities promoted from the municipality.
The marina’s involvement with all three clubs is total, the Kayak Club Pobla Marina is the third kayak club in the Region of Valencia and has more than 120 members. “We give away free space to store their canoes in the port,” explains Pobla Marina’s manager.
The Pobla Marina Fishing Club carries numerous achievements in sport fishing and is a great asset to the association, participation and union between the boats of the port.
For its part, the Pobla Marina Regatta Club is in charge of organizing a multitude of competitions, such as the Spanish Cup of Catamarans, one of the most important events of the national nautical calendar, during which, during four days, 70 boats from all over the country competed. “We are very pleased that we have been asked to host a major event in 2018,” adds González Carrau.
