Alonso reaffirms its commitment to solidarity through its Christmas campaign aimed at children
According to its values and its policy of Corporate Social Responsibility, Grupo Alonso has responded to the call made by the Mensajeros de la Paz Foundation, which pays attention to the serious poverty situation in which thousands of families live in Spain.
Nutrition and hygiene
This year, the nonprofit organization coordinated by Father Ángel García Rodríguez, has requested urgent help to assist the youngest in their basic needs of food and hygiene.
In order to maximize the effectiveness of this solidarity campaign, all the staff of Grupo Alonso has been involved in gathering as many of the scarcer products as possible: baby food, powdered milk, diapers and dermatological creams.
Over the course of a month, collection points have been set up in the various offices of the group companies. In these points each one of the employees has been able to make its contribution and to collaborate with this cause. In addition, it has also been arranged the possibility to make donations in cash that will go entirely to purchase these products.
A human team involved with solidarity
One more year, the reaction of all those who work and collaborate with Grupo Alonso every day has been up to it and the expectations have been exceeded. This material, which has already been delivered in the warehouse that the foundation has in Madrid, has been significantly increased with the participation by the company, which has made a contribution equivalent to the amount of all proceeds. In total, more than 3,000 kilos of basic children products have been collected.
The solidarity campaign for Christmas is already a consolidated tradition within the Group. These actions of social character are developed in each occasion supporting different associations. In previous years organizations like Caritas, Casa de la Caridad, Cruz Roja or Fundaciónon Teodora have been the recipients of the solidarity of the workers.
A history of more than half a century
In 1962, with a truck and the work of his own hands, Francisco Alonso laid the foundations of the multisectoral business group that today is Alonso. That same year, Father Ángel García, started a small association aimed at improving the living conditions of elderly and homeless children.
At the beginning, two different scenarios but with very similar principles and tools: work and a firm conviction in the power of the human being to move and change things.
Today, half a century later, the Mensajeros de la Paz Foundation is an association present in more than 50 countries, which has managed to provide a decent life for more than 80,000 people.
His tireless work and the universal values that govern his activities have become an example for many and has led him to be awarded the Prince of Asturias Award of Concord.
