Intersagunto Terminales increases its competitiveness by implementing an Integrated Management System

The new integrated system allows the joint management of areas such as quality, energy efficiency or prevention of occupational risks in a more efficient and coordinated way. This new situation reinforces the line of work based on the continuous improvement that the Multipurpose Terminal of the Port of Sagunto has been applying since the beginning of its activities.

Intersagunto Terminals has just successfully complete the process of audit by SGS certification entity that certifies the correct implementation of its Integrated Management System. This new milestone is presented as the logical evolution after the multi-purpose maritime terminal managed by the Alonso Group has already obtained the most rigorous certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 or the seal of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO).

In this way, Intersagunto Terminales has become one of the most efficient and updated terminals in the Mediterranean region, and one of the few that meets all international quality standards under an Integrated Management System.

Advantages of an Integrated Management System

International norms and standards such as the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 series have enabled companies to progressively be involved in a continuous improvement of their processes and facilities in different aspects such as quality, environment or prevention. But when it strives for excellence, the work does not end with certification.

Once the company has managed to implement all these improvements, the Integrated Management System is the key piece that brings together all these actions to address a common goal. In this way, by working in an interconnected way, numerous advantages are obtained, such as avoiding duplication, reducing the amount of documentation generated, saving time and costs in certain processes and, in short, a global improvement in efficiency and quality.

This integration process, which began last December, has involved a deep audit, both internal and external, in which different procedures have been modified and the “Management System Manual” has been re-edited, adapting it to the new version of The norms 9001 and 14001 of 2015.

To this end, a number of new operational control points have been defined and specific training has been given to all staff. This series of measures allows optimizing the different systems, reducing the associated costs and increasing the quality of the offered service.
