Alonso Group reinforces its forwarding division with the acquisition of Smart Logistics Group
The logistics operator, Smart Logistics Group, which specialises in exporting to the Americas, has joined the Alonso Group project since November, which continues to expand the scope of its freight forwarding activity with notable additions to its portfolio of companies.
The new company, which has around twenty professionals distributed between its headquarters in Barcelona and Valencia, joins the Alonso freight forwarding division. A network distributed throughout Spain and whose companies operate independently, along with its international brand Alonso Forwarding.
A global logistics operator
Smart Logistics Group started its activity in Barcelona in 2005 and since then it has been consolidating not only as a freight forwarder, but also as an integral logistics operator that participates in each and every one of the stages of the logistics chain.
The group’s new forwarding agent works as a global forwarder, highlighting the export operations to Mexico, Canada, the United States and the rest of the American continent as one of its main business centres, especially managing the dispatch of special and perishable cargoes. The Smart Logistics Group also stands out for its specialisation in the logistics of wines and spirits, where it manages large volumes.
Along these lines, the Smart Logistics Group has a powerful project cargo department that carries out tailor-made logistics plans for the different industrial sectors, taking into account the specificities of each market.
Commitment to new logistics
In addition to its AEO accreditation, which certifies it as a trusted operator for international administrations, Smart Logistics Group is a company involved in the development of a new way of understanding logistics from an environmentally responsible point of view.
Thus, since 2012, when it began the process of registering in the official registry, Smart Logistics Group became the first freight forwarder in our country to obtain carbon footprint certification from the Ministry of the Environment. In this sense, it annually offsets emissions thanks to the sustainable management of a forest with more than 350 trees located in the north of Spain.
Its commitment to sustainability fits perfectly with the corporate values of Grupo Alonso who, through its Global Logistics Plan, is implementing a series of measures aimed at offering as many CO2-free services as possible to its customers and collaborators.
