Alonso Forwarding Costa Rica: a privileged position in the Caribbean

Our brand, Alonso Forwarding Costa Rica, began operations almost at the beginning of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. This conditioned us considerably, but even so, it never deterred us. We have worked hard and with dedication to position our brand in our country, in Central America and in the rest of the world. Now we are about to celebrate four years of history.
Alonso Forwarding Costa Rica, located in the capital San José, specifically in the Oficentro Ejecutivo La Sabana, started with only six people. Today we are 18 professionals and we are all part of the success and growth of the company. We want to do things better every day. It is a great satisfaction and a great stimulus for all of us.
Agri-food sector, a major exporter
Due to the high level of imports and exports in the country, Costa Rica has ventured into the food, agricultural, automotive, electronic components, pharmaceutical and medical markets. This has favoured us as a company since Alonso Forwarding Costa Rica has been part of this investment, reflecting year after year, the increase of the different imports and exports that allow us our success and recognition. The confidence of our clients.
In 2022 Alonso Forwarding Costa Rica reached an export figure of approximately 1100 TEUs to destinations such as Guatemala, and about 1400 TEUs to Mexico. In addition to moving around 200 TEUs to other countries, including the United States. Inland shipments to Central America are also increasing. In this way we have been obtaining a better positioning and we manage, at least, 3 or 4 teams per week, while in air shipments we reach about 20 tons in 2022.
Main ports and borders in Costa Rica
In the world of logistics, having adequate infrastructure is fundamental. At Alonso Forwarding Costa Rica we have focused on using the most important ports for the import and export of maritime cargo, such as the port of Caldera on the Pacific and the port of Moín on the Caribbean. For land cargo, we can mention two of the most important borders in the country: Peñas Blancas in the north and Paso Canoas in the south. Likewise, for the entry and exit of air cargo, we have the Juan Santamaría International Airport.
Our expectations
In Alonso Forwarding Costa Rica we are focused on customer service, teamwork and moving towards total positioning towards great achievements. The expectations and plans for 2023 go beyond the positioning of the Alonso brand. It involves closing the year with positive numbers, increasing our customer portfolio as well as increasing cargo movements (exports and imports) with the effort and commitment of our entire team. Our objective will always be to maintain and satisfy our customers and to go in search of those who have not yet made use of our services.
We are also working on large projects, such as entering into the export of isotanks to Panama. We are assisted by Alonso Forwarding Panama, our partners with offices in Panama City.
Another of our plans is to implement our own Customs Agency. There we will be able to streamline the service offered to our customers. With this we are sure to attract more customers to join us and grow with us. Here’s to a very successful last quarter of 2023 and a very successful 2024!

Legendario in Costa Rica
Part of our actions are also related to the reinforcement of the Legendario brand, a company that is part of the Alonso Group Leisure and Services division. That is why we have recently participated in the EXPHORE 2023 exhibition at the Convention Centre in the capital. A great commercial and marketing boost in favour of an international and high quality portfolio.

Before finishing we would like to thank Alonso Group, and all our colleagues around the world, for their support and dedication to make this project more important every day. We are very proud of them! Thank you very much.
