Alonso Group collaborates with Aldeas Infantiles SOS to ensure the snack of more than a hundred children
Alonso Group, which has more than a hundred companies belonging to seven different business areas, announced, during the last Christmas campaign, its collaboration with Aldeas Infantiles SOS. The objective was to guarantee the annual snack for children and families at risk of exclusion in our country. Just two months later, just as the charity campaign closed, all expectations were exceeded. Thanks to the collaboration and involvement of Alonso Group’s professionals, it has been possible to ensure the annual snack of 106 minors each day in a situation of poverty.
Although, at first, the challenge was to reach 20 snacks a day for this campaign “Merendamos Juntos”, the solidarity of the Alonso Group workers has managed to quintuple this figure. In this way, a figure of almost 20,000 snacks will be reached in one year.
This action is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility area of the Alonso Group, where different social, cultural and environmental initiatives are organised every year, always with the support and collaboration of each of its employees, with the aim of contributing to a more equitable society.
This solidarity campaign works with the aim of protecting children and, specifically, those children and their families who are at risk of social exclusion in our country. For this reason Alonso Group has opted to collaborate with Aldeas Infantiles SOS through this new initiative which, once again, has been a great success and represents a real commitment to society today and in the future.
Support for the poorest families
The entity project “Merendamos Juntos” is part of the “Prevention Programmes – Day Centres for Children and the Family” which currently has 24 day centres in Spain and whose objective is to support the most disadvantaged families, in close collaboration with the Social Services. Like that covers their most basic needs and guiding them in the care of their children, in order to avoid more severe protective measures, such as the separation of a child from its parents. Thanks to the 24 Day Centres that SOS Children’s Villages have all over Spain, more than 1,300 children can have access to a safe environment in which they are provided with a healthy snack, as well as hygiene and health guidelines.
Aldeas Infantiles SOS, since 1967 in Spain
Aldeas Infantiles SOS, present in Spain since 1967, is an international organization, private, child aid, non-profit, interfaith and independent of any political orientation. It was founded in 1949 in Imst (Austria) and today is present in 135 countries. In 2016 it was awarded the Princess of Asturias de la Concordia Prize.
Its mission is to care for children and young people in vulnerable situations, promoting their development and autonomy through foster care in protective family environments and strengthening their family, social and community networks. It works to strengthen vulnerable families so that they can adequately care for their children; it protects children who have been deprived of parental care, providing them with a protective family environment in which they can grow up feeling loved and respected; and it accompanies young people in their process of maturation and independence.
