The class delegate thanked everyone for their efforts in a course marked by the COVID-19.

The VI edition of the Master of Maritime Law and Port Logistics of the Catholic University of Valencia (UCV) ended with the band imposition to students who, for the whole year, have studied in depth all aspects related to the logistics world.

Once again, Alonso Group has been involved in the development of this training programme so that the students have received master classes from the managers of the group’ s different companies. They were also able to visit some of the group’s facilities, such as the Setemar logistics platform, the multi-purpose terminal at Intersagunto Terminales or Pobla Marina. A real know-how for all the students and the best way to obtain a global vision of the present operation of a logistics company.

The event brought together the dean of the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of the UCV, the director and founder of the master’s degree and representatives of the sponsors, including Alonso Group. As part of its corporate values, the company has been promoting learning, the search for new talent and a commitment to continuous training in companies for years.

Continuous training

During the closing session, Jorge Alonso, Alonso Group‘s president and CEO, encouraged all the students to “continue with training throughout their professional careers” and reflected on the current situation “marked by economic and social difficulties, as well as the excessive influence of social networks”.

On the other hand, Miguel Rocher, Operplus‘s director and professor of the master’s degree, intervened in the event with his master class “Who is in charge of the company” where he outlined the main challenges that companies today.

A training marked by the pandemic

Without a doubt, the 2019-2020 year has been marked by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March, the master’s classes have been held virtually and, as far as scheduled visits to facilities are concerned, they have been postponed until the end of the state of alarm. All visits were subsequently carried out with the necessary hygienic measures. A great logistical effort in which the University, the teaching staff and the students themselves from all over Spain and even abroad have been involved.

In fact, the class delegate highlighted “the cohesion” created between all the students over these months and the educational level of the Master’s “despite the exceptional conditions we have had to live with”.

III Alonso Scholarship Edition

Finally, the event served to deliver the III Alonso Scholarship, which thanks to the agreement that Alonso Group has with the UCV, offers an employment contract to those students who have stood out especially for their perseverance and effort during the course.

In this edition Susaniha Yousaf, a graduate in Law, was the student chosen to take advantage of this opportunity to enter the professional market and gain experience in one of the most important companies in the logistics sector.
