Alonso Group cooperates with differents NGO’s in a year characterized by the effects of the global pandemic

At a particularly difficult Christmas due to the consequences of the COVID-19, Alonso Group is reinforcing its solidarity actions at international, national and local level. These initiatives are part of the company’s CSR policy and are an example of effort, willingness and solidarity. 2020 is proving to be an economically and socially complex year due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. A reality that has aggravated situations such as serious difficulties in accessing the most basic needs, forced migration or shortages of the most basic medicines around the planet.

Aware of the situation this year, Alonso Group once again sets an example of effort, willingness and solidarity by collaborating with different NGOs and social organisations that work every day to improve the quality of life of the most disadvantaged groups. Specifically, this aid, through its different companies and with the involvement of all the workers, will have an international reach (Doctors Without Borders and Unicef), national (Red Cross and the Food Bank) and local (Casa de la Caridad de Valencia).

All these actions are framed within Alonso Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy which, through disinterested contributions, is aimed at trying to mitigate the serious effects of the pandemic at the start of Christmas.

Doctors Without Borders

As soon as the pandemic began, the international organization launched the “Coronavirus Crisis Fund” to finance all aid activities in more than 70 countries to combat the consequences of the virus. Moreover, medical cooperation is now more necessary than ever. This year Alonso Group collaborates again with this NGO, as it did in 2019 to support its humanitarian aid in Yemen.

Unicef

Another item in the CSR budget will go to Unicef, a UN agency fighting to improve the quality of life of children and their mothers in developing countries. In particular, it will cover the vaccination of children against diseases such as measles, polio, tuberculosis, diphtheria and tetanus.

Red Cross

The Red Cross will also benefit from Alonso Group’s solidarity aid at national level. This NGO offers shelter and bags of food to homeless people, migrants and many people who, due to the scourge of the pandemic, have found themselves in a situation of greater vulnerability and lack of protection. A great support to this NGO and its volunteers who, every day, in a disinterested way, help those who need it the most.

Casa de la Caridad de Valencia

Finally, and at a local level, Alonso Group will support the Casa de la Caridad in Valencia, a century-old institution that has been carrying out a commendable task for over a century: providing food and shelter to the homeless. This year the institution has been overwhelmed by a demand that exceeds its capacity to respond, making collaboration more necessary than ever.

The Solidarity Challenge: the Food Bank

Every sum and everything contributes. Under this premise, the solidarity challenge that Alonso Group is launching this year for all its employees is related to the donation of food and basic necessities (personal hygiene…) which will be destined to the Food Banks of different Spanish provinces. This is an essential task at present and one which we hope will result in record figures.

All these actions undoubtedly show Alonso Group‘s sensitivity towards the most needy and the firm will, shown year after year, to share with society part of what has been achieved through collective effort among all of us who are part of it.
