Alonso Group exhibits in Tallinn the potential of its Global Logistics Plan at the ‘Connecting Europe’ conferences
Grupo Alonso has shown its Global Logistics Plan at the ‘Connecting Europe’ conference cycle through an information booth at the Nordea Concert Hall in Tallinn (Estonia).
The European Council, through the Executive Agency for Innovation and Networks (INEA), has organised this international event in which, over the course of two days, the present and future of the actions that will enable the European transport sector to be revitalised has been deepened.
Within the framework of this International logistical meeting, a sample of the main projects and initiatives that are being developed to configure the Trans European Transport Network (TEN-T) has also been carried out.
A unique intermodal model on the peninsula
The Alonso Group’s Global Logistics Project, co-financed by the European Commission through the’ Connect Europe’ mechanism, is an ambitious action plan. It contemplates the connection by rail of the different sea freight hubs in which the group operates throughout the Iberian Peninsula: Valencia, Algeciras, Barcelona, Madrid, Marín and Aveiro (Portugal).
In this way, by diverting long-haul transport from road to rail, replacing lorries with multi-client and multi-product trains. A significant reduction in both costs and pollutant emissions can be achieved.
Commitment to the environment
Abundant in its commitment to sustainability, Grupo Alonso’s Global Logistics Plan also bets on the use of Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) trucks in last mile transportation.
This project will in the future make it possible to offer CO2-free services while optimising all links in the logistics chain by having an efficient, safe and extremely punctual freight transport network.
