Alonso Logistics Argentina, the take-off in the export of agricultural products

The colleagues of Alonso Logistics Argentina, with office in Buenos Aires, are the protagonists of this September’s section “Alonso Group in the world”. In the following lines, the branch makes a great balance of the last year and highlights the great take-off of some of its traffics, such as the agricultural one. On another note, they emphasise that the relationship they maintain with the rest of the Alonso Forwarding branches is very close and productive.

At Alonso Logistics Argentina we can say that, in line with 2021, last year was excellent in terms of business and turnover. It follows in the wake of what we are also experiencing throughout 2023. We would like to highlight the inclusion of new business linked to the export of agricultural products to neighbouring countries and Asia, with volumes of around 20,000 tonnes per month exported to Chile, Uruguay and Vietnam. These are very positive figures and a stimulus to continue growing.
We would also like to highlight the incorporation of two new commercial executives to our staff. These professionals have helped us to significantly increase the number of operations and their usefulness. In fact, we have added many operations generated by external agents belonging to the PPL organisation, to which we are associated as  Alonso Group. We constantly receive requests for quotations and support for goods generated by them. In the area of oversized cargoes we have also maintained regularity, although we have not quoted for any large projects.

If there is one thing we should be particularly proud of, it is the start-up of Alonso Logistics Uruguay. After more than a year of management and bureaucratic procedures, the new branch with an office in Montevideo, the country’s capital, is now up and running. The new brand is led by Luis Jarrín in the commercial area and, with this, we intend to strengthen the presence of Alonso Group in the southernmost area of South America. Alonso Logistics Uruguay has an excellent relationship with the other branches nearby (such as Argentina) and we are already working to develop common business based on a great exchange of information and fluid communication.

Economic situation

We cannot forget the economic situation that has accompanied us this year either. 2023 has been and continues to be a very complex year, complicated by a very high inflation rate (114% annually), problems of lack of foreign currency and the impossibility of making transfers abroad since mid-April. Added to these issues is the fact that we are living through a complex electoral year with a high degree of social discontent.

Relationship with Alonso Group

Alonso Logistics Argentina has a great relationship with Alonso Group whose offices are present in five continents. For example, we work with Operasia with whom we are handling 90% of the cargo from China, we have also started working with Alonso Forwarding USA two months ago, in fact we have entrusted them with all our air cargo that we previously operated with another agent.

The relationship we maintain with the Alonso Group offices in LATAM (Latin America and the Caribbean) is also particularly relevant: a fluid and constant contact which, in the near future, will be even more productive.
